The 42nd Annual Fredonia Farm Festival parade grand marshal was Richard Feinen. Feinen, a third
generation farmer from Sheridan, is among a long list of Feinen Family
Farmers who originally began in the 1800s. Richard's father Rudy and
mother Mary were instrumental in expanding the farms, and Richard
continued the family tradition after graduating from Fredonia High School
in 1963.
Richard currently farms over 250 acres, specializing in grape vineyards,
peaches, and season vegetables. His farming has been in the mainstay with
the Feinen Fruit Stand located on the corner of Route 39 and Route 20, as
well as a stand at the weekly Farmers Market in Fredonia.
Richard, who remains active in the Sheridan community where he lives with
his wife of 43 years, Marcia, is currently serving his fourth term as
councilman for the Town of Sheridan and has been active in the Sheridan Fire Department in numerous capacities for the last 38 years. Richard enhoys spending time with his family including his children and grandchildren which have all stayed in the local area.
Richard has devoted his farming career to providing the best quality fruits and vegitables to the local community and carrying on the "Fine family tradition" of Feinen farms.
